Teen Librarian

SUMMARY: 

The teen services librarian will provide programming, outreach, and collection development for grades six through twelve and assist patrons of all ages in use of library materials (including e-content) as needed

 

DUTIES:

  • Plan, develop, and promote age appropriate programs for young adults in library and possibly off-site
  • Select materials and keep teen collection current
  • Form and maintain relationships with community partners (especially schools and teachers)
  • Maintain awareness of technology and teen literature through professional reading,  continuing education, workshop/event attendance, and/or organizational membership
  • Perform basic reference duties as necessary
  • Perform basic circulation duties as needed

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an A.L.A. accredited school required
  • Valid Ohio driver’s license required
  • Previous experience working with teens preferred
  • Adeptness with social networking tools
  • Facility in use of the internet, Windows, Microsoft Office programs, and electronic devices
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills

 

WORK SCHEDULE:

Full-time 40-hour position.  Must be willing to work days, evenings, and Saturdays.

 

COMPENSATION:

Starting rate is $18.00 per hour. Benefits package includes pension with Ohio Public Employees Retirement System
